Tony Hart designed the world famous Blue Peter ship logo and was paid a flat-rate £100 fee for it. He said afterwards that he wished he'd been able to persuade the BBC to pay him a penny every time it was shown instead. -

A group of people on Facebook are campaigning to have a memorial to Tony Hart established in Maidstone as a lasting tribute. It has so far been unconfirmed if this is to go ahead.

Although 'Morph' is often associated with Tony Hart, Morph is actually a product of Aardmann Productions and he was not created by Tony himself, even though the association is fairly universal.

It might be inappropriate therefore, to have a giant Morph (even if rather fun) as Tony did so much more than this, but we do strongly support the idea of a statue or other memorial to mark Tony's quiet influence on the world of art and his Maidstone roots.

Tony's biggest wish, above all, was that people continue to enjoy his programmes and that they don't become outdated. For the moment, we are not aware of any plans by the BBC to reshow any of Tony's programmes.
