Titch and Quackers

Titch & Quackers was a popular show of the early 60's. The great ventriloquist Ray Allen hosted the show with his 'Titch' character (a small boy and not remotely like Lord Charles) and his sidekick 'Quackers' the duck.

Tony Hart first appeared in the show in 1963 and operated Quackers as well as doing a drawing feature.

For the most part, operating Quackers was a thankless task until Lulu appeared on the show one day and clasped 'Quackers' to her bosom - a most memorable moment for the then young Tony Hart.

Ray Allen still tours the UK of course with his famous pal, Lord Charles and is probably the finest ventriloquist of all time. Ray is in his mid-70s and has been in the business all his life from early variety performances.

Trivia:

Ray and Tony used to plan the next TV programme on the plane journey between London and Manchester, where the programme was made. Tony would do sketches on the back of a sick bag! They have remained good friends ever since.
