Tony's programmes have won a multitude of international awards, including a BAFTA. "Hartbeat" often attracted 5.4 million viewers, and Tony's mailbag varied between 6,000 and 8,000 per week, needing a large team of senior citizen's to deal with it. Tony's programmes have sold in all parts of the world, often dubbed into foreign languages. He was approached by a fan in Los Angeles, one night, who told him "I was watching you on TV in Montreal last night, you were speaking French".

In the USA, the Daughters of the American Revolution gave a commendation in the form of a plaque to every TV station showing "Vision On". Tony Hart has appeared in several TV programmes in the USA.

Trivia: Not a well known fact, but the Blue Peter logo (right) was created by Tony Hart. He asked for a penny every time it was shown but had to settle for a flat rate fee of £100 (fair bit of money in those days). Click here to see the original drawing. Had he got his wish he'd have been a very rich man indeed by now. He also drew, and told stories about 'Packi' the Elephant for Blue Peter. 'Packi' also appeared as a strip cartoon in a childrens comic.
